HOOKS IN STONE, BONE, IVORY AND WOOD
The South Pacific fish hook represents prosperity, abundance and strength. It is worn today reminiscent of an ancient island craft and lifestyle. It conveys a high respect and honor for the ocean and all it provides.
I draw my (hook) inspiration from the historical pieces within The Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii. That said, custom designs and styles are limited only to the material available and your imagination. The shape of each piece is largely decided by the contour of the ‘raw’ material from which it is carved. No piece is ever forced.
I honor my hooks with names according to material used, size and weight.
All hooks come lashed; cords for hooks are individual lengths and thicknesses.
NOTE: All hooks in the below photos will be lashed directly onto the cord when ready to wear.
For cord types, please visit "Bracelets / Cords" page.
If you have any questions or would like to inquire about custom carved pieces, please ask.
